JR’s 28mm project is among the most memorable photographic series in recent history. His desire to show indivuduals at a highly localized level struck a chord with both his subjects and those who simply experienced the art on the streets. Introduced to art in an organic way himself (initially tagging the streets of Paris, he found a camera on the metro and began taking photographs), JR sees the streets as the “biggest gallery in the world”. The now TED-winning ‘photograffeur’ is the subject of this short film by Matt Black as part of the filmmaker’s series, Reflections, which sees JR talk about his work, motives, practices and inspiration
