As is traditional at the store, Dover Street Market have just completed their bi-annual Tachiagari, which sees a complete revamp of the the retail and creative space every January and July. Tachiagari means ‘beginning’ in Japanese, and this season has seen a number of large changes with some floors completely transforming.
In the Basement, Graham Hudson has created an installation called Open System which incorporates the Sneaker Space and Idea Books. Beginning on the Ground Floor and descending into the Event Space is a piece by Andy Hillman for the Fred Perry 60th Anniversary customization project, featuring an oversized speaker.
On Third, Rei Kawakubo has revamped the floor entirely and includes spaces within it for Simone Rocha, Alexander McQueen, Lanvin as well as a brand new Saint Laurent in-store design concept by Hedi Slimane, especially for DSM. Also on Third is Primate Pile Up by Andy Hillman featuring an oversized gorilla.
Additional highlights include a window by Simone Rocha featuring a reproduction of the lane behind her home in Ireland, where she grew up as a child; A new Alexander McQueen space on Third Floor; Simone Rocha’s first ever shop, as well as several new brands moving into the store and much more.
