The fellas over at FirstWeFeast brought a valid point to our attention in a recent article; when was it that chefs first starting getting interested in ‘fashion’, and at what cost to their food? It’s a trend that has been rolling along for the past few years and one which is not too hard to spot. These days, chefs aren’t confined to the kitchen – far from it – they’re creating culinary empires, opening eateries around the world, signing book deals, making television appearances and participating in fashion commercials and collaborations. We can get behind the opening of more restaurants and could certainly use a couple more original cookbooks, but a Banana Republic x Bon Appétit collab is where we draw the line.
