Hip-Hop draws from fashion and vice-versa. This has always been the case, but it has become all the more apparent in recent years. With artists transcending into what some may consider restricted territory, the two verticals overlap and there’s much ado about it. Writer and director, Sacha Jenkins has partnered with CNN to create a documentary titled, Fresh Dressed: The Revolution of Fashion Born on the Streets. The documentary chronicles several eras in hip-hop from the crazy eighties with Run DMC and their fat-laced, shell toe Adidas Superstars to the modern, high fashion stylings of A$AP Rocky. Big Daddy Kane and Super Bowl champion Carl Banks handle the narration and they’re just two of the many personalities you can expect to see. The full documentary is now screening at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
