Bagpipes and kilts are pretty rad, but Scotland’s Hanon has just teamed up with ASICS and Ontisuka Tiger, on two killer runners drawing inspiration from legendary Scottish explorer Thomas Glover. Glover introduced the first steam train in Japan, which helped him claim his stake in the industrialization of the country. Bawse.
The first colorway in the ‘Glover’ capsule is applied to ASICS’ ‘Gel-Epirus’ model, and nods to the thistle plant – the national emblem of Scotland. A mint green suede and contrasting purple nubuck upper sits atop a gum sole, while the inner features a red quilted lining that really pops around the heel.
Onitsuka Tiger contributes a ‘Colorado Eighty-Five’ model for this pack, featuring a design that draws inspiration from Glover’s iconic mustache itself. This black and gold upper is made up of a mixture of perforated suede, nubuck and synthetic overlays. The speckled lace stays are a nice, noticeable touch – but the embossed mustache on the heel is the icing on the cake.
Check them out above. You can scoop the ‘Glover’ pack on September 27th at Hanon’s webshop.
