With the arrival of the iPhone 6 — Apple’s first real foray into the realm of “Gameboy-sized” smartphones — our offices (and seemingly the entire world) have gone into a frenzy to obtain one. Meant to compete with larger Android phones, the iPhone 6 boasts a variety of new features including improved camera resolution and auto-focus, integrated e-commerce options, and most notably a larger, more vivid screen (this is particularly apparent with the 6 Plus, which is sized somewhere between a phone and tablet. Good luck getting that thing in your pocket).
You can read all about the improvements of this new iPhone on a tech site, but frankly, we don’t see what all the fuss is about. Apple continues to push out new hardware with incremental advances, and we continue to hand over our hard-earned dollars. But they could be making many more improvements on a software level, at no cost to the user.
For example – it may seem like a minor detail, but have you noticed that some of the app icons don’t resemble anything having to do with the app? Take a look at your FaceTime icon — what is that, a camera from the 1920s? What about the Game Center icon — what the f*ck are those bubbles??
With that in mind, we decided to redesign a few of the Apple app icons. Hopefully someone from Apple will stumble on these icons and replace the old ones. You’re welcome, guy.
