DKNY Exclusively for Opening Ceremony Opening Ceremony meets DKNY with this bold collection for Spring 2013! This season, we team up with the iconic New York label to present a capsule collection of re-issued styles available exclusively at OC. Pulled straight from the catwalks of the early 90s, boldly branded jumpsuits, puffer coats, and tees are back and fresher than ever. Comprising 15 women’s and unisex pieces, dating from 1991–1994, the collection captures the essence of DKNY at the time when it first exploded onto the scene. DKNY! It was the mural on Houston at Broadway in New York, it was the sassy ad campaigns, it was the iconic models in them, it was—as Donna Karan said—the pizza to Donna Karan collection’s caviar, the taxi to its limousine. For kids from New York to New Zealand it was everything. The 15 limited-edition pieces include a 1991 jumpsuit, classic logo tees, and a canary yellow body-hugging dress from 1994. Feast your eyes.

Wood Wood02 Wood Wood have always held an affinity for refined streetwear and their AW13 collection presented at Copenhagen Fashion Week delved further into this concept with an increased emphasis on the street. Black and white heavy-shouldered (read: masculine) silhouettes strolled down the runway in a casual cross between textured tailoring and intelligent athleticism. This concept flowed into the womenswear as well with ties, hats, heavy overcoats and original WW prints a common theme at the show. I’m looking forward for this collection to drop at retailers.

The Generic Man for Selfridges London The Generic Man continues its slew of collaborations, this time joining forces with the iconic and legendary stalwart of high-end department stores, Selfridges & Co. The collection, colorfully called Sunday Spundae, features bold riffs on three pieces from the Generic stable, while I picked out The Florentine and the Slip-On. As the name implies, GNRC looked to the early 90s San Francisco club scene for inspiration. The parties, which happened at Club 1015, were jam-packed with jet-setting music fiends who led lifestyles as loud as these shoes. The Florentine comes in a black and a white camouflage print; and the Slip-On in fluorescent green, yellow, and blue patent leathers. All eight are hand-made in Portugal with 100% Italian materials, so think twice before hopping into them for your next forgotten weekend. Both The Generic Man for Selfridges collection and our elite collaboration with Spencer Hart will be artfully displayed on a unique buildout throughout the month of February in the footwear department at Selfridges and Co. in London.

David-Bowie-Nacht-Musik-Limited-Edition-Book-1

The Vinyl Factory and The Mott Collection announce a new exhibition and publication: David Bowie ‘Nacht Musik’. The exhibition takes place at The Vinyl Factory Chelsea from 7 February to 3 March 2013, and consists of 45 iconic 7” single covers that showcase David Bowie’s remarkably eclectic aesthetic and celebrate the myriad list of photographers, artists and designers who helped create his various personas. The collection of 7” singles date from Starman (1972) to Without You(1984) encompassing Bowie through his many phases from Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane to the Thin White Duke and the Berlin era.

As the exhibition title suggests, ‘Nacht Musik’ pays special tribute to Bowie’s creative zenith, the mid-late ‘70s when he relocated to Berlin and made a trio of albums with Brian Eno that would redefine not just his musical legacy but also that of the German city itself. Indeed, Bowie looks back at this period in his new single, Where Are We Now? – his first new recording in a decade, released this week.

The collection of 45 7” singles will be for sale as a framed artwork from the gallery. In addition, The Vinyl Factory has created a commemorative publication, which is also for sale. Limited to 300 copies, this catalogue documents 45 David Bowie singles from this period, and includes an essay by collector Toby Mott and a 7” single pressing of a David Bowie interview given to Manchester’s Picadilly Radio in 1978.
