Belgian artist and architectural photographer Filip Dujardin presents a new series of work to be shown as part of a solo exhibition at Highlight Gallery in San Francisco. The works focus on fictional buildings that Dujardin has created using a digital collaging technique from photographs of real buildings around Ghent, Belgium. At first glance, Dujardin’s buildings seem reasonably ordinary until closer inspection reveals almost all to be structurally implausible and bordering on absurd. The artist references surrealists such as René Magritte and Raoul Servais in a contemporary light by incorporating aspects of the surreal into banal urban contexts. The series will be on display at Highlight from February 7 through March 29, 2013. (via designboom)
