Wolfgang-Laib

Contemporary German artist Wolfgang Laib has taken over the Donald B. and Catherine C. Marron atrium at New York’s MoMA, completely covering the space with natural pollen. Entitled Pollen from Hazelnut, Laib perceives the Marron atrium as the museum’s inner sanctum, or womb, and has created the work specifically for the site. The 18 x 21 ft installation is Laib’s largest work with pollen to date and saw the artist collect the pollen from  plants around his Southern German home and studio. The work will be on view from January 23 – March 11, 2013.
