The elusive British street artist Banksy published his art work in Gaza on his website with a short video clip titled ‘Welcome to Gaza.’ The artist set out to make a series of art works captured on film and video that demonstrates the continued suffering of the people of Gaza as a result of the Israeli military bombings last year. His stencils and paintings are strategically placed to interact with the surroundings to drive the idea home. In one instance a large cat is painted on a wall in a bombed site with a painted paw playing with the refuse. A local, on film, further explains how the image shows the injustice that exists in Gaza where there is no place for children to even play. See the video below and the gallery above for more on this latest art intervention.
