In honor of Black History Month, Potential of Us highlights eight tech influencers and creators in the African American community. These tech veterans, like Christen Rochon of Divas and Dorks and Dan Miller of FreshSessions, are not only incredibly knowledgeable, they also give back to the community to inspire future history-makers.
Dan Miller is a computer programmer who saw a need to help connect musicians with recording studios. Miller’s website, FreshSessions, matches artists with available studio space. This desire to make the creative process easier was borne from Miller’s own experience as an artist. Keep up with Miller here and here.
Christen Rochon developed the website Divas and Dorks to merge fashion and technology. She wanted girls like her to explore two seemingly unrelated topics in the same place. Rochon’s mission is to get girls involved in technology at a much earlier age, particularly black girls, who might not get much access to computers. Find out more about Rochon here and here.
