Chinese designer Li Jingxuan has conceived of a scent-capturing postcard printer for Sony which uses pattern recognition to create and characterize aromas. Using an ‘electronic nose’, the system samples scents and then transfers them through aroma-based inks, applying them to special photo-paper. Once posted, the receiver would peel back an exterior layer to reveal the captured scent. Jingxuan’s Scent Capturing Printer was part of the 2012 Sony Student Design Workshop. (Designboom)
