Good looking sunglasses are a dime a dozen these days, but beyond aesthetics, the fact remains that mass production and little technique can now be seen as a calling card for large parts of the eyewear industry. New Zealand-based Lewis Fredericks looks to pay tribute to the good old days of quality manufacturing with its new collection of handcrafted horn eyewear, which possesses that dynamic of being both high quality and rather beautiful. The 2015 collection boasts a range of silhouettes inspired by high profile style icons of the past fifty years. Our favourites include the ‘I.M’. (inspired by master architect I.M. Pei), ‘Larkin’ (for the famed English poet and novelist Philip Larkin), and ‘Onassis’ (after first lady Jackie Kennedy Onassis). With no frame the same (horn patterns and striations cannot be replicated) and Italian polarised lenses from Mazzucchelli, Lewis Fredericks is turning heads for all the right reasons. Find more here.
