Based in Los Angeles, DISSIZIT! Clothing, is a lifestyle and streetwear brand established by Slick in 2009. Drawing his inspiration from all things b-boy, graffiti, and street, DISSIZIT! is heavy into subversive and bold graphics along illustrations that are all original and mostly drawn by the master illustrator, Slick, himself. Slick, who also happens to be a veteran graffiti artist, is considered by many as a god in the streetwear industry. His illustrious career in art and fashion includes high profile collaborations with top brans as well as a being the co-founder of brands Fuct and Third Rail. One of the flyest and yet slept on brands out there is Dissizit and we are pleased to present their 2014 highlights with words from the OG himself. As Slick puts it they are, “the official brand of the the true B-Boy.” Act like you know.

What was your brand’s most successful release this year?
I was super stoked to have CRYPTIK movement do his interpretation of the LA Hands. His style and imagery has become so iconic and to see it all come together was amazing. I was surprised he wanted my hand style to encase his mandala looking crest when his is so ill, and it worked! You can still find a few pieces on www.adopedistribution.com

What were your brand’s top/best collaborative releases?
There has been so many it’s hard to recall. I really liked the David LaChapelle collection. His photography is just so ill and to have the green light to destroy them was an honor. It’s always fun to collab outside of my circles as well. Too much inbreeding goin on in hip hop and street wear for that matter. Our Paris Hilton graphic sucking on a Pilot…….Oh damn.

What was your worst collaboration?
It wasn’t so much as a collab as it was a parody on a band that I’m really feeling. It kinda bummed me out when he IG’d me saying the “respectful thing to do was ask for a collab”. We did a “RUN LA” tee with my LA hands in that zombie “Run the Jewels” colors. I thought it was dope AF, but apparently El-P
didn’t. On the real, I would have loved it to have been a full on collabo because I’m a big fan since Def Jux days and of Killer Mike, but they were just starting to tour for RTJ2 and I didn’t think a parody had to be run by the guys. I tried hitting KM a few times with no reply and EL-P after the
fact on IG but I guess they aint trying to hear it. It kinda fizzled cuz my partner didn’t want me to promote it knowing how El-P felt.

What was your brand’s top/best limited edition releases?
We haven’t dropped one in a minute but my favs were the mix tapes. I really enjoyed working with these talented DJ’s and musicians to put out these timeless eclectic blends of rock, psychedelic, hip hop and skits. DJ Phoreyz and Dj Crook fuckin killed it. We even recorded exclusive content for it. We made a few videos too, including DISS-IZ-IT YALL with DMC from Run DMC! I still can’t believe it. It was fun designing the CD sleeves, and helping art direct the videos. Besides having the illest mixes out at the
time, all the collab product came out sick as hell too. The best stuff comes out organically and not too forced…..

What was your best/favorite collaboration with an artist?
The current collaboration with Shepard and Obey clothing is pretty sick. I really like how it came about. The collection is called DISSOBEY: DISSIZIT X OBEY and available at Obey clothing and all their international retailers. It actually came about thru a love hate relationship with Shepard and his
brand. The Image of the LA HANDS x ANDRE poster came about during the MOCA show (Art in the Streets). Our street teams were battling for this electrical box in Little Tokyo. It was prime real estate during the show. I felt the mash up really captured the essence of the streets and what we do. I was pleasantly surprised Shepard was down for it. Not only did it show the power of his Andre but the coming together of 2 very different schools of graff.
