Take Detroit techno pioneer Carl Craig, put him on a stage with young Luxembourg maestro Francesco Tristano, add into the mix Brandt Brauer Frick, and classically trained composer Gregor Schwellenbach, and you don’t exactly have your run of the mill musical line-up. That’s what Ballantine’s and Boiler Room did in Hamburg last December however, in an exploration of how Germany’s legacy of classical music might have influenced its now legendary electronic landscape. Call it an experiment that worked — you only have to read our interviews with both Carl Craig and Boiler Room‘s Blaise Bellville to understand how both see the two genres merging — but if you need further proof, check out the recap from ‘Stay True Germany’ in the video above. Compelling stuff.
