Last year, Inventory commissioned Japanese designer Shin Murayama to produce a series of utilitarian items using iconic products from a range of illustrious brands, including Levi’s, adidas, Filson, Vans, Champion, Dickies, Red Wing and Saint James. The products Shin produced are typical of his hugely inventive way of deconstructing, reconstructing and re-imagining clothing, to become completely new, often practical objects. In the past, his most notable work has centered around masks, but for Inventory‘s commission the designer created all manner of useful items, from bags, to foldable storage units and beyond. Photographer Jason Evans shot the subsequent editorial which appeared in Inventory‘s 11th issue, while the repurposed pieces are available from Dover Street Market now.
