In the early 1900s, Peter Alexander Cormack and his wife made the journey from Wick, Scotland and settled in the small town of Herschel, whose population today is counted at 30 residents. Founded in 2009 by brothers Jamie and Lyndon Cormack, Herschel Supply Co. adopted the name of the small town where three generations of their family were raised. Herschel Supply Co. is based in Vancouver, Canada and manufactures the finest quality backpacks, bags, travel goods and accessories in the world.
Thanks to the creative vision of the brand’s creative director, Jamie Cormack, in 2014 the brand continued to stand out with their stellar capsules and collaborations. Here we present a recap of the best of Herschel Supply Co’s 2014 releases in their own words.
What was your brand’s most successful release in 2014?
Our partnership with Clarks was definitely the most popular release for 2014. We partnered on two unique desert boots, one in a navy and one in army green. We first did a european release in August and then in November went through with a North American release.
What were your brand’s top/best collaborative release in 2014?
For us, one of the most exciting collaborations we did was with Barney’s New York. They are such an iconic retailer and to work with them on an exclusive collection for our Bad Hills Workshop collection was very special.
What was your brand’s top/best limited edition release in 2014?
A top limited edition release for us this summer was one we did with Champion on an exclusive line of backpacks and duffles for Urban Outfitters.
What was your best/favorite collaboration with an artist in 2014?
We did a limited edition release of 100 bags with Jeff Hamada from the art and culture blog Booooooom.com this summer. Jeff commissioned his artist friend Andrea Wan to hand illustrate the liner to re-interpret Jeff’s childhood camp sleeping bag print. It was a very cool project.
