The upcoming 2014 MTV Video Music Awards got us thinking about how much music has changed since the days of our youth. Fashion, music and art are all tied — and of course they’ve all progressed quite a bit in our lifetime. In our modern digital age, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone under the legal drinking age who’s owned a tangible album — that is to say, a physical copy. Vinyl’s making quite a comeback these days, but the ‘compact disc’ will always be the musical delivery medium that holds the most special place in our heart. It was basically the last way you could buy an album at a brick-and-mortar location, and they were very important in our childhood and adolescence. We bought ‘em, we traded ‘em, and we fondly remember the artwork that accompanied our favorite CDs. Once you ripped off the plastic and clicked the case open, the artwork printed on the album liner was there to slide out (many of these ended up on our bedroom walls).
So with that nostalgic thought in mind … we said to hell with nostalgia and decided to design our own covers for legendary albums from this era. Click through our gallery above, and be grateful that you don’t have to deal with scratched discs or bulky listening devices.
