Rizzoli have released a new book documenting the often abrasive visual style of singer M.I.A. With three albums behind her, M.I.A. (aka Mathangi Arulpragasam) has firmly established herself within the music industry, but she is just as well known for her visual aesthetic, mashing up cultures and colors in an array of cover artwork, graphic prints, videos and animations – often put together while touring – and it is this work that the publication focuses on. With a foreword by longtime friend Steve Loveridge and an exclusive interview with M.I.A which sees her discuss relevant themes and events, this looks to be an interesting read. You can find it on Amazon now.
