Last Tuesday, we did a post about what 2Pac would wear if he were still alive in 2014. Then, after the 17th anniversary of Biggie‘s death, we got to thinking about what he would be wearing these days.
But we soon realized that, unfortunately, Biggie wasn’t built for 2014 menswear. Ever since his passing, clothing began to fit tighter, shoes got more designer, and the world of menswear has turned its back on the overweight demographic of the human population. Now, it’s the skinny kids like Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa and Kanye West who are served well by the menswear space.
Don’t agree? Here’s an illustration below.
The Skinny Balmain Biker Jeans
It didn’t matter how fat or slim you were in the ’90s, everyone wore baggy-as-hell jeans. Now, it’s all about the skinny Balmain biker jeans and/or leather pants. Try squeezing into those? They’re a big guy’s nightmare.
The Designer Sneakers
In Biggie’s day, a pair of beat-up from-the-block Timbs were the pinnacle of bossy dress. But now, it’s all about the clean, elegant designer sneakers. Biggie’s feet would crush a pair of Balenciagas. No, not like crush as in look awesome, crush as in flatten into a pancake.
The Slim-Cut Tom Ford Suit
Frank White was known for donning the occasional suit, but since the ascendance of Tom Ford and the slim-cut, tailored suit, what is the big man to do? Shop at Mens Wearhouse?
The Scoop-Neck T-Shirt
Kanye‘s scoop-neck tee on Biggie? Nope, he needed the over-sized Coogie sweater.
The Wide-Brimmed Hat
Actually, there are exceptions to every rule and the wide-brimmed hat he used to rock could certainly be found on the top of many #relevant people’s heads today.
The Vintage Versace Frames
His vintage Versace frames too, they’d still be killer today. In fact, Big would probably be one of Corey Shapiro‘s best customers.
OK, so he’d look terrible in most menswear.
