“Collaborations” was the buzz word for 2013 in streetwear, and business was so booming for collab-happy streetwear imprints that the practice has caught the eye of entrepreneurs in another industry: drug dealing.
Apparently the thought is that if these brands are already turning a profit by putting drug slogans and imagery on their gear, why shouldn’t pot dealers and heroin slingers be able to do the same?
So, whether this drug re-branding is going to be official or not, 2014 may be the year of the streetwear drug. See what the drug world is cooking up below.
Supreme X Adderall
From collaborations to lookbooks to capsules and more, no one does more than Supreme. This collaboration with focus-medicine Adderall would be awesome.
Yeezus X Gold Rolling Papers
When the first images of the Yeezus album art hit the Internet, there was a gold foil design on the inside of the case that somehow disappeared in subsequent designs. Apparently, there was going to be a gold Yeezus rolling paper included in ever CD, but plans were changed when weed dealers thought the world might not be ready for their bold stroke of marketing genius.
40oz Van X Marijuana Wax
40oz NYC is a streetwear connoisseur’s new best friend. A dab of wax is a smoker’s new best friend.
Comme des Garçons X Shrooms
Comme des Garçons‘ beady-eyed heart logo is already the kind of hallucination a shroomer sees right as the the drugs turn on him, is reappropriation inevitable?
BEEN TRILL X Acid
BEEN TRILL’s logo looks like something Johnny Depp‘s character in Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas would have scrawled on the wall of his hotel room in a tripping fit. LSD makers have taken notice.
ALIFE X Crack
Crack may be wack, but NYC’s ALIFE is crack to the kids of NYC. Crack dealers want in on the action.
YSL X Special K
This is what happens when high class Parisian designs hit the streets of NYC.
HUF X Weed
Even HUF‘s Holiday socks had weed images plastered on them. Weed’s Holiday strain wants HUF plastered on it.
Wil Fry X Meth
Because this shirt feels like the menswear equivalent of Walter White’s favorite drug.
DONDA X Heroin
Have you ever watched the video DONDA did for Big Sean‘s “Beware?” Yeah, there you go.
Kith X Garcia Vega
What wouldn’t be better than a throwback blunt to go with Kith NYC’s retro “New York Natives – 1996” capsule?
