Chinese artist Ai Weiwei is perhaps the most buzz worthy artist around, which is why the latest piece of work from fellow Chinese artist He Xiangyu is likely to create a lot of chatter. The artist has created a fiberglass rendition of Ai Weiwei, which lies face down on the ground in a contorted position. The sculpture was created in reference to Jacques-Louis David’s 18th century portrait of the French revolutionary leader Jean-Paul Marat to reflect on political persecution of progressive, sometimes rebellious journalists, artists, and thinkers. He Xiangyu’s Ai Weiwei sculpture is currently part of the 28 Chinese exhibition, an will be up until August 1, 2014 at the Rubell Family Collection.
