Photographed for AnOther Magazine in Beijing, the shots portray two elements of the artist’s life and practice; first, a direct look at his plight, staring, seemingly at wits end, into the camera, guarded constantly by Chinese policemen, and second, portraying a location of simple beauty, from where Wei Wei creates stunning and provocative work. It’s great to see a studio visit with this much emotion present.
